Reverse description Dionysus standing left, extending a cantharus downward toward a panther at his feet, while his left arm rests upon a column. The god is depicted in his characteristic divine role as lord of wine and revelry, a common reverse type in Phrygian civic bronze coinage of the Imperial period. The ethnic legend ΚΟΤΙΑΕΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Cotiaeum, is inscribed in the field. The composition is balanced and typical of the civic workshop's output during the Commodan era.
