| Obverse description | Bare head of the emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in a restrained classical style typical of Julio-Claudian provincial portraiture. The effigy displays short, tousled hair with characteristic Claudian locks falling over the forehead. The portrait is set within a circular flan with the Greek imperial legend disposed around the periphery. The modeling is competent for a provincial issue, with a firm jawline and naturalistic facial features. No drapery or paludamentum is visible, the bust terminating sharply at the neck. |
