Reverse description The river god Harpasos reclines to the left in the conventional personification type, his semi-draped figure supported by a tilted water urn from which a stream flows. He holds a reed in his extended right hand and a cornucopia in his left arm, symbolising the fertility of the river valley. The ethnic legend ΑΡΠΑϹΗΝΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing civic community of Harpasa. The overall composition follows standard provincial Greek iconographic conventions for river-god types of the Severan period.
