| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, presented from behind so that the articulated pteryges of the cuirass and the folds of the paludamentum are prominently displayed. The emperor's youthful, energetic portrait is rendered in the typical Severan style, with a wreath of laurel encircling the head. The Latin legend ANTONINVS PIVS AVG runs around the periphery of the flan. |
