| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of civic fortune, stands facing left in the field, wearing a kalathos (modius) upon her head, symbolising the prosperity of the city. She holds a ship's rudder downward in her right hand and a cornucopia overflowing with fruits in her left, the standard attributes of civic Tyche in Lydian provincial coinage. The reverse legend in two lines or surrounding the figure identifies the issuing civic authority. The style and type are consistent with the local artistic conventions of the Conventus of Ephesus during the Severan period. |
