The goddess is flanked by two stags, sacred animals of Artemis, positioned symmetrically at her sides. The image faithfully reproduces the famous xoanon venerated at Ephesus, a type widely disseminated on the coinage of cities throughout the Conventus of Cyzicus. The encircling reverse legend reads ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ, featuring a distinctive local variant of the letter zeta rendered in a form resembling the Japanese katakana character エ. |
