Obverse description Bare laureate head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in the typical provincial style of Bithynian civic coinage. The effigy displays the characteristic mature portrait of the emperor with a laurel wreath crowning the head. The circumferential Greek legend surrounds the portrait within a beaded border, though heavily worn. The die-work reflects the provincial workshops of Nicomedia during the mid-2nd century AD.
