背面描述 Standing figure of the lunar deity Mên facing left, wearing the characteristic Phrygian cap, depicted in full-length robes. He holds a pine cone in one outstretched hand and a long sceptre in the other; a crescent moon appears behind his shoulders, serving as his principal divine attribute. The composition is typical of the Phrygian-Lydian cult of Mên as represented on provincial bronzes of the Antonine period. The encircling Greek legend names the local magistrate Lucius Tullius and the civic community of the Temenothyraeans.

附加信息

Temenothyrae was a minor Lydian city whose civic coinage under Antoninus Pius fits within a broader pattern of Roman-era municipal issues from the Sardis conventus — the judicial district through which Rome administered local affairs in Asia Minor. The magistrate name partially preserved in the obverse legend, read as Λ ΤΥ(Π) ΤΗΜΕΝΟΘΥΡΕ(Ν), likely reflects a local strategos or grammateus whose full identity remains unresolved in the epigraphic record.

The anomalous Ϸ-shaped rho, if present, is a regional letter form documented sporadically in Lydian civic bronzes and worth noting on any example where it appears.
