| Obverse description | Bare, youthful head of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with light beard rendered in low relief consistent with his early co-regency portraiture. The facial features are set within a plain field, with the portrait occupying the central and left portion of the flan. A fragmentary Greek legend runs along the periphery, partially legible as ΑΥ? ΚΑΙ ΑΥΡ[, identifying the imperial titulature. The flan shows considerable surface wear and patination, rendering finer details of the portrait difficult to distinguish. |
