| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Vespasian facing right, depicted with characteristic realistic portraiture of the Flavian period. The emperor's head is bare-necked with a laurel wreath, rendered in a bold and somewhat provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading retrograde or continuously around the field. The portrait exhibits the strong, mature features associated with Vespasian's official iconography, including a broad forehead and defined jaw. |
