| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Saloninus facing right, depicted with youthful features in the provincial Greek style. The effigy is rendered with a short neck truncation, the portrait occupying the central field. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust, reading ϹΑΛ ΟΥΑΛΕΡΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the young Caesar. The flan shows the characteristic irregularity of provincial hammered bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. |
