| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with aegis or drapery visible on the left shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic provincial style of Asia Minor, with bold, slightly crude relief typical of civic bronze coinage. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the bust, partially visible around the periphery of the flan. The overall composition is consistent with the iconographic conventions of the Carian conventus under Trajan's reign (98–117 AD). |

| Additional information |
Tabae was a Carian city whose civic coinage under Trajan falls within the Alabanda conventus — one of the administrative judicial districts Rome used to organize the province of Asia. These district groupings shaped which cities could mint and when, making small Carian bronzes like this one products of bureaucratic geography as much as civic pride. The city's output under Trajan is sparse, and III#2289 is among the less frequently encountered varieties in the series.
