| 背面描述 | The river god Imbrasos, personification of the sacred river of Samos, reclines to the left in a relaxed pose typical of ancient river deity iconography. He holds a peacock in his extended right hand, an attribute closely associated with Hera and her cult on the island of Samos, and grasps a cornucopia in his left arm symbolising abundance. His left elbow rests upon an overturned water urn from which water flows, the standard attribute identifying river deities in Greco-Roman numismatic art. The reverse legend ϹΑΜΙΩΝ, meaning 'of the Samians', is inscribed in the field. |
