| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, depicted from behind, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass clearly articulated. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Samian mint, with bold if somewhat rough engraving. The encircling Greek legend is distributed around the periphery of the field. |
