| Reverse description | Cybele, the Anatolian mother goddess, seated left upon a high-backed throne, her figure rendered frontally with head turned to the left; she extends a patera in her right hand and is flanked on either side by a recumbent lion, the traditional attributes of her cult. The composition is framed by the ethnic legend of the issuing city distributed around the periphery of the field. The style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Conventus of Sardis under the Severan dynasty. |
