| 裏面の説明 | Tyche, the personification of fortune and patroness of the city, stands facing left, wearing a kalathos (modius) upon her head. In her right hand she holds a cult statue of Artemis Ephesia, the city's principal deity, and in her left arm she cradles a cornucopia, symbolising prosperity. The reverse legend in Greek proclaims the city's prestigious title as first of Asia. The composition reflects Ephesus's civic pride and religious identity in the Severan period. |
