Hydrela was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus represents little more than routine provincial output — yet the very obscurity of the mint makes surviving pieces scarce. The conventus of Cibyra encompassed dozens of such small communities, each granted the right to strike bronze for local exchange, and most produced only a handful of recognizable types across the entire imperial period.
The V.2#17 reference places this within von Aulock's corpus of Lydian and Phrygian civic bronzes, a classification system still foundational for identifying the rarer Anatolian mints.
