Obverse description Bare or lightly laureate head of Julius Caesar facing right, rendered in a relatively austere, late Republican portrait style. The effigy displays Caesar's characteristic sharp facial features, with the legend C G I L distributed in the field around the portrait. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial coinage of the period. The portrait exhibits the thin, elongated neck and prominent jaw typical of Caesarian iconography on colonial issues.
