| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Demeter, depicted full-length facing left in flowing robes, holding a cluster of poppy heads in her extended right hand and a long sceptre in her left. The goddess is rendered in the classical provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic bronzes of the mid-3rd century AD. The reverse legend ΘΕΜΙϹΩΝΕΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing civic authority of Themisonium. The composition and iconography reflect Demeter's importance as a fertility deity in the religious life of the region. |
