Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of the Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, depicted from behind, presenting the characteristic three-quarter rear view common to provincial coinage of this period. The imperial titulature legend encircles the bust in Greek characters. The flan is irregular and the surface shows heavy patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD.
