Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, seen from the front, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial style typical of Epirote coinage, with the legend disposed around the periphery of the flan. The coin shows considerable surface patination consistent with prolonged burial, partially obscuring the peripheral inscription.
