The legend ΕΠΙ ΛΑΚΩΝΟΣ ΑΝΘΥΠΑΤΟΥ names the proconsul Lakon as presiding authority — a reminder that in the earliest months of Nero's reign, provincial bronze was still being issued under the administrative machinery of the Roman proconsulate rather than direct imperial initiative.
