In his right hand he extends a cantharus (wine cup), while his left hand supports a long thyrsus, the staff associated with his cult, held diagonally across the field. The surrounding Greek legend proclaims the civic pride of Nicomedia as a twice-neocorate city, affirming its status as twice honoured with the imperial cult. |
