背面描述 Poseidon, the civic deity of Cyme, stands facing left in a dynamic pose, his right foot resting upon the prow of a ship, referencing the city's maritime identity. In his extended right hand he holds a dolphin, while his left hand grasps a long trident set diagonally in the field. The figure is rendered in the rounded, somewhat provincial style typical of Aeolian civic bronzes of the mid-third century. The Greek magistrate's legend and ethnic inscription are disposed around the figure within a dotted border.

附加信息

Cyme was among the oldest Greek foundations on the Aeolian coast, and by the Severan period had long since faded into provincial obscurity — which makes its continued output of civic bronze under Maximinus Thrax all the more interesting. Maximinus never visited the eastern provinces during his reign; his coinage there was issued entirely through local magistrates operating on loyalty and inertia. The magistrate name ΠΑΥϹΕΡΩΤΟϹ recorded here is the kind of hyper-local administrative detail that survives nowhere else in the literary record.
