| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed from the rear in the characteristic provincial style, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The effigy displays the youthful features typical of Gordian III's portraiture on Lydian provincial coinage. The circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, separated from the bust by a dotted border. The overall style is consistent with the civic bronze coinage of the Ephesian conventus during the mid-third century AD. |
