Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed from a rear three-quarter perspective, presenting the paludamentum and armour in characteristic provincial style. The imperial effigy is rendered with youthful features consistent with Gordian III's portraiture. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan shows the characteristic irregular fabric typical of Asia Minor provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD.
