Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed from behind with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass rendered in relief. The imperial effigy occupies the central field, surrounded by a Greek legend disposed along the periphery. The flan is irregular and shows a fissure at the lower left, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the mid-third century AD.
