Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the front, as typical of provincial coinage of the Severan period. The circumferential legend in Greek characters reads ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces are heavily encrusted, obscuring fine detail. The portrait follows the conventional formulaic style of Asia Minor civic bronzes struck under Gordian III.
