| 裏面の説明 | Athena, the tutelary deity of the city, depicted standing to the left in a composed, stately pose characteristic of Hellenistic divine imagery. The goddess holds an upright spear in her right hand while her left hand rests upon a large round shield set at her feet. The figure is rendered in the long-established iconographic tradition of Athena Promachos, adapted here for civic coinage. The ethnic legend ΝΕΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ encircles the reverse field, identifying the issuing city. The overall composition is typical of Carian civic bronzes of the Severan and Gordian periods. |
