| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and tutelary deity of the city, depicted standing in full figure facing left. She holds a rudder resting upon a globe in her right hand, symbolising governance of fate, and a cornucopia in her left arm, emblematic of abundance. The encircling Greek ethnic legend ΑΦΡΟΔΙϹΙΕΩΝ identifies the issuing city of Aphrodisias. The composition is characteristic of Severan and later provincial civic reverses from Caria, with a dotted border enclosing the field. |
