Pautalia — modern Kyustendil in southwestern Bulgaria — was one of the more prolific civic minting centers in Thrace during the Antonine period, producing bronze issues throughout Faustina II's time as Augusta. The city's Greek civic identity, preserved in its coinage long after Roman annexation, reflects the administrative latitude Rome extended to established urban centers in the region.
RPC IV.1 nos. 8830–8834 represent a cluster of closely related dies, and Varbanov's attribution adds granularity to what the RPC online treats as a single type grouping.
