| Beschrijving keerzijde | A standing female figure, tentatively identified as Hestia, depicted facing with head turned to the left, rendered in full-length draped form in the centre of the field. She holds a long torch in her right hand and a patera in her left, attributes consistent with both Hestia and certain civic goddess types on Nicaean bronzes. The Greek ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is distributed around the figure in the field, proclaiming the civic authority of Nicaea. The reverse type reflects the strong local religious and civic iconographic tradition of Bithynian provincial coinage under the Severan dynasty. |
