The emperor wears a laurel wreath and articulated military cuirass, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The Greek imperial titulature encircles the bust in a continuous legend around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the broad, youthful facial features associated with Elagabalus's numismatic type, rendered in the local style of the Ephesian conventus. |
