Reverse description Hera of Samos stands facing at center, wearing a kalathos entwined by a serpent and holding a patera in each hand, with fillets hanging on either side; she is flanked by a crescent and star in the field. Two nude children are seated on either side, facing each other and engaged in the game of astragaloi (knucklebones), a scene closely associated with the sacred precinct of the Heraion at Samos. The ethnic legend ϹΑΜΙΩΝ appears in the field. The composition reflects the strong local religious identity expressed on Samian provincial bronzes of the Severan period.
