Myrina, a coastal Aeolian city absorbed into Rome's provincia Asia, struck civic bronzes under named magistrates well into the imperial period — the archon Kleinias named in this issue's legend was a local official whose appointment reflected the managed autonomy Rome extended to compliant Greek cities. The conventus of Smyrna administered judicial and administrative oversight for the region, meaning Myrina's coinage operated within a framework where Roman tolerance of local Greek identity was largely performative.
