Obverse description Laureate head of the emperor Commodus facing right, with characteristic curly hair and short beard, rendered in the provincial Greek style. The effigy displays a slightly draped shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The surrounding field carries the Greek imperial titulature legend distributed around the portrait. The flan is irregular and the strike moderately well-centred, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the Antonine period.

Reverse description Athena, the patron deity of Nicaea, depicted standing to the left in full figure, helmeted and wearing a long chiton and aegis. She extends her right hand forward presenting a small owl, while her left hand holds an upright spear. The civic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is distributed around the figure in the field. The composition is typical of Bithynian provincial bronze coinage celebrating the city's divine patroness.
