Obverse description Laureate bust of Commodus facing right, depicted with a long, full beard, wearing cuirass and paludamentum, seen from the rear in a three-quarter perspective. The portrait reflects the mature, heroic style characteristic of late Commodan imperial coinage from the Asian provincial mints. The obverse legend, partially retrograde or irregular in letterforms, runs around the periphery of the flan.
