Gerasa — modern Jerash in Jordan — was among the more prolific provincial minting cities of the Decapolis, and its bronzes under Commodus as co-emperor reflect the period between his elevation to Augustus in 177 and the death of Marcus Aurelius in 180. The legend ΑΝ ΤΩ ΠΡΟ ΧΡ ΤΩ ΠΟΡ Γ references his third consulship, helping to pin the issue tightly within that three-year window.
Spijkerman's 1978 corpus of Decapolis coinage remains the foundational reference for Gerasene bronzes, and RPC IV.3 has since refined the attribution.
