| Reverse description | The river-god Lykos depicted in the conventional reclining pose, turned to the left, his right hand holding a reed and his left arm resting upon an overturned water-urn from which water flows. The figure is rendered in the standard Hellenistic personification of river deities common to Asia Minor provincial coinage. The partial legend (ΛΥΚΟϹ) ΘΥΑΤΕΙΡΗΝΩΝ is disposed around and below the figure, naming both the river deity and the issuing city of Thyatira. The partially legible inscription ΛΥΚΟϹ is visible in the lower field. |
