| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left, depicted as a mature, bearded deity seated upon a high-backed throne. In his extended right hand he holds a patera, and in his left a tall vertical sceptre reaching to the upper field. The figure is rendered in the classical Pheidian tradition common to provincial bronze coinage of Bithynia. The Greek civic legend referencing Nicomedia's neokorate status is distributed around the type in the field and exergue. |
