Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, portrayed in the characteristic heavy-featured style of his later portraiture. The imperial effigy fills the central field, with the laurel wreath rendered in relief. The Greek legend ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ (Antoninus Augustus) is disposed around the periphery of the flan.

Reverse description Hygieia, goddess of health, depicted standing facing with head turned to the right, clad in a long chiton. She extends her right hand forward holding a patera from which she feeds a large serpent coiling upward, a standard iconographic attribute of the deity. The encircling Greek legend ΗΡΑΚΛΗΑϹ ΕΝ ΠΟΝΤΩ (of Heraclea in Pontus) identifies the issuing civic authority of this provincial bronze issue.
