| Reverse description | The river-god Rhyndakos depicted reclining to the left in a semi-recumbent posture, his right arm resting upon a bent knee. He holds a reed in one hand and reclines against a water-urn from which water flows, symbolising the River Rhyndakos of Mysia. The figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition for river deities on provincial bronze coinage. The encircling legend ΑΠοΛΛΩΝΙΑΤΩ ΡΥΝΔΑΚοϹ identifies the city of Apollonia ad Rhyndacum as the issuing authority. |
