| Reverse description | Athena, goddess of wisdom and warfare, stands facing with head turned to the left. In her extended right hand she holds a patera, while her left arm rests upon a round shield set on the ground beside her; an upright spear rises to the right of the figure. The composition follows the canonical standing Athena type common to Mysian provincial bronzes of the Antonine period. The Greek magistrate legend ϹΤΡ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΥ Α ΑΤΤΑΙΤΩΝ, identifying the strategos Apollonios and the civic ethnikon of Attaea, is distributed around the reverse field. |
