| Reverse description | A large eagle stands facing with wings fully spread, its head turned to the right. The bird's talons grip a bucranium (ox skull), a characteristic reverse type associated with the colonial coinage of Alexandria Troas. The Latin colonial legend COL AVG TROAD is disposed around the eagle in the field and along the periphery. The composition fills the flan with a commanding, heraldic quality typical of the Trajanic and later colonial eagle types of this mint. |
