| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valerian II facing right, rendered from a rear three-quarter perspective, displaying paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and scaled cuirass. The effigy occupies the central field with the Greek legend disposed around the periphery. The die work is characteristic of provincial Samian coinage under the joint reign of Valerian I and Gallienus, with a bold, somewhat schematic treatment of the imperial portrait. |
