| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hygieia, goddess of health, standing facing left in the field, rendered as a slender draped or semi-draped figure in the Hellenistic provincial tradition. She extends her right arm forward, offering a patera from which a serpent rises to feed, the serpent being the emblematic attribute of the goddess. The ethnic legend ΜΙΔΑΕΩΝ is disposed around the figure in the field, identifying the issuing civic authority of Midaeum. The design occupies the full flan within a beaded border, with the figure modelled in low relief typical of Phrygian provincial bronzes. |
