Reverse description The iconic cult statue of Artemis Ephesia (the Ephesian Artemis) stands facing, rendered in the distinctive xoanon style with the goddess depicted mummiform, wearing a polos crown, her body adorned with multiple rows of ovoid protuberances and flanked by lateral supports or stags. To the right of the statue, a bee — the ancient civic symbol of Ephesus — is prominently depicted in the field. The retrograde Greek legend ΕΦΕϹΙΑ appears in the field to the right of the figure, identifying the deity as the Ephesian goddess.
