| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view typical of mid-third-century provincial coinage. The effigy shows the emperor in military attire, with the laurel wreath clearly rendered atop his head. The encircling Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the compact, firm modelling associated with Decian-era provincial die-cutting from the Ephesus conventus. |

The figure is rendered in the standard provincial idiom for civic Tyche types, symbolising the fortune and prosperity of the city of Hypaepa. The encircling Greek reverse legend identifies the issuing community and the presiding magistrate, strategos Ermolaos, distributed around the periphery of the flan. |
