| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Hostilian as Caesar, facing right and seen from the front, with paludamentum visible on the left shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage of the mid-third century. A Greek legend surrounds the bust, reading ΜΕϹϹΙΟϹ ΚΥΙΝΤΟϹ Κ, identifying the prince by his dynastic name. A dotted border frames the design. |
