Additional information

Apollonia ad Rhyndacum, a small Bithynian city on the river Rhyndacus, retained the right to strike bronze civic coinage under Roman provincial authority — a privilege that was far from guaranteed for towns of its modest standing. Issues under Trajan from this mint are sparsely documented, and III#1598 represents one of the thinner entries in the Bithynian provincial corpus.
